#Metroseen: Exploring the Art of Joshua Carajay

Mar 22, 2023 0 comments

Get ready to be blown away by the artistic talent of Joshua Carajay, the 20-year-old visual artist from Alcala, Pangasinan! With a creative flair and poetic soul, Joshua's art skills have exposed him to a wide variety of opportunities, proving that everything is possible when you're inspired.

Joshua's love for the arts started at the young age of 12, tracing coloring books and practicing his techniques in colors. Fast forward to high school, he started joining art contests, sharpening his skills and honing his craft. But it wasn't until college that Joshua truly found his calling, taking Bachelor in Fine Arts from the University of the Philippines Baguio.

Realism, portraits, thoughts on life and opportunities

What sets Joshua apart from other artists is his dedication to realism in his paintings. His color palette is like a mood ring, depending on what emotion he wants to express. He draws inspiration from his experiences in life, creating social realism, portraits, and personal thoughts on life that will make your heart sing.

"My art skills exposed me to a wide variety of opportunities, and it makes me realize that everything is possible unless you are inspired," he said.

In an interview, Joshua shared his gratitude for pursuing his passion in college, where he explored and experimented with different mediums, techniques, and styles, raising the quality of his artwork to new heights. And boy, did his hard work pay off! Joshua was one of the nominated Fine Arts students for DDAA 2022 (Darnay Demetillo Artist Award), a testament to his incredible talent.

"Stepping on this path, I never expected I would become one of the nominated FA students for DDAA 2022 (Darnay Demetillo Artist Award), and this opportunity pushed me to continue what I do," he shared. "I grew more engaged with my artwork as I put what I had learned from my professors into practice; it also helped me generate ideas and expression."
