Meet Zuh Dai, the 25-year-old Bol-anon visual artist who is making a name for herself in the local art scene. Driven by curiosity and pure luck, Zuh brings vibrant masterpieces to life using acrylic paint on sculpted or thermoformed acrylic glass. She creates meaningful pieces by manipulating materials like paint and acrylic sheets. In short, she’s a unique visual artist you should look out for.
She claims that she doesn’t have a particular style and that her art is simply a reflection of her growth. “I’d say it's everything I hate that I learned to love or at least figured out a way to love it. My art is still progressing, and I’m still learning so much with every piece I make”, she said.
What makes Zuh fascinating is her dedication to curiosity, luck, and manifestations. She gets intrigued by a lot of things and she likes to figure them out until luck finds its way to inspire her even more.
Although she hates to admit it, Zuh’s background in architecture was the very foundation of her artistic process. She was not passionate in that particular field, but it became her discipline in how she creates her pieces and studies. “Instead of building buildings, I’m now building art”, she shared.
A Way of Life
For Zuh, art is a way of life. In an interview, she shared that she originally wanted to become a tattoo artist when she was in second grade. However, developing a phobia for blood made her realize that she can’t see herself working in that field.
“But art has always been something I admired,” she said. “It was a way for my family to bond. To mess up the house with my two sisters by painting over everything. Taking over the living room just so we can all paint together. It was really a way of life. I knew this was something I can see myself doing for a really really long time. Now my art has progressed into something that’s even more than just me creating, its now me solving, testing and its now a whole science to me, that I deeply enjoy.”
Zuh’s art pieces have already been showcased in galleries like Secret Fresh, Art Cube, and Art for Space gallery. If you want to see more of her bold and imaginative pieces, check out her Instagram account (@zuh.dai) and support her future works.
