Believe it or not, these songs are turning 10 years old this year

We won’t blame you if 2011 feels like it was just yesterday for you but believe it or not, ladies and gents, it’s been ten long years. And regardless of whatever it was that was going on in the world at that time, it can’t be denied that 2011 was a really big year for music. It’s not just for those in Hollywood, but all around the world as well.

So why don’t we celebrate the great music with a throwback to the popular hits of ten years ago! Who knows? You might learn to love these songs either for the first time (better late than never!) or all over again.

“What Makes You Beautiful” - One Direction

One Direction was the biggest boy band on earth this time 10 years ago. So much so, their debut single, “What Makes You Beautiful” peaked at the number one spot on the UK Singles Chart after its release on September 11, 2011. It’s still one of the best boyband songs of all time and surely brings back the nostalgia of simpler times.

"Super Bass" - Nicki Minaj

In 2011, Rap queen Nicki Minaj gave us rap perfection with Super Bass and introduced us to the stage of candy pop with a twist. The track remains one of her best songs though. Now with over 800 million views on YouTube, this song also won the “Most-Played Music Video” award in the 2012 MTV Platinum Video Plays Awards.

“Someone Like You” - Adele

English singer-songwriter Adele released her second studio album, 21, in 2011 and along with it came the hit single Someone Like You. The song reached number 1 in 19 countries and actually became her first number-one single in her home country.

“Born This Way” - Lady Gaga

Born This Way, both the album and the single was released ten years ago by Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, best known to the whole world as Lady Gaga. The single, in particular, became a number one hit in 25 countries and was also Lady Gaga’s third single to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

“Party Rock Anthem” - LMFAO featuring Lauren Bennett and GoonRock

We won’t be surprised if you party to this song all those years ago or maybe even today. The first single of electronic dance music duo LMFAO’s second album, Party Rock Anthem went to number one in countries like the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, and Germany.

“Moves Like Jagger” - Maroon 5 featuring Christina Aguilera

Maroon 5 has come a long, long way since they were once known as Kara’s Flowers back when its original members were still in high school. In 2011, they teamed up with Christina Aguilera for the song Moves Like Jagger, which became Maroon 5’s second number one single and Christina’s fifth.

“The Boys” - Girls’ Generation

Let’s hop on to our side of the globe with South Korea’s Nation’s Girl Group, Girls’ Generation! The then-nine member group released their studio album titled The Boys in 2011 and the single of the same name came out in October of the same year. It was followed by English and Japanese versions of the song with the former serving as the group’s debut song.
