Boys on the block! 3 promising P-Pop groups to watch in 2021

Mar 3, 2021 5 comments

Times might be challenging due to the pandemic, but Pinoy pop music is taking back its throne in the form of boy groups, and it's the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Pinoy Pop, better known as "P-Pop", is now one of the fastest-growing genres on the music charts, and we are not complaining! Not at all.  With its vast influence from Korean Pop groups (K-Pop), Pinoy P-pop boy bands are now making their own names in the industry!

With that, Let's take a look at three P-pop boy groups that are taking the local Pinoy music industry by storm!

SB19

Thanks to their fans, we now know that SB19 is no longer a *rookie* in the game. The five-member boy band debuted back in 2018 and has been serving us everything we want from a boy group since. From unlockable vocals to unique choreographies, SB19 is indeed a Pinoy Pride.

Consisting of Pablo, Josh, Stell, Ken, and Justin, the band is the first Filipino group trained by a Korean Entertainment company.

With their songs like "Alab" and "Hanggang Sa Huli" gracing the hit charts in and out of the country— they genuinely deserve everything they have achieved.

Tho the boys have already proven themselves, we believe that they still have a lot of promising projects in store for us. Luckily, the boys are set to take another leap in their career with "Ikalawang Yugto" coming this March and we will be seeing more of them soon.

BGYO

BGYO is taking the p-pop industry by storm, and we are all ready for it!  Nate, JL, Gelo, Mikki, and Akira might be new to this p-pop gig, but these young boys have been continuously proving their spot on the list.

BGYO fittingly stands for "Be The Change, Go Further, You And I, Originally Filipino" and aims to represent their mission to empower and motivate the youth worldwide. Amidst the pandemic, the group released a   single called "The Light," which tackled essential issues such as mental health, academic burnout, empowerment, hope, and most importantly, self-love.

The music video features the boys showcasing their singing prowess and dance moves, but also their acting chops! Talk about All-around performers!

BGYO has just begun, and we would love to see more of them.

ALAMAT

In the country's darkest hours, heroes from different parts of the country united to bring us ALAMAT.

Composed of Taneo, Jao, Mo, Kin, TOMAS, R-ji, Valfer, Gami, and Alas, ALAMAT has a unique vibe that even folklores can't explain.

In their self-written single "kbye" the group featured Tagalog, Ilocano, Bicolano, Kapampangan, Hiligaynon, and Bisaya in their lyrics, and it's the best thing ever! Talk about representation.

With their unique concepts and songs, the group is already bound to capture the interest of fans worldwide—a Legend waiting to happen.

SB19, BGYO, and ALAMAT are just some of the most promising P-Pop groups in the country! With new groups rising here and there, the rise of P-Pop is inevitable. In that case, did we miss anyone? Who should we feature next? Tell us below!
