5 activities to help you prepare for #Halalan2022

Dec 6, 2021 0 comments

For generations, people have been swindled by politicians. Apart from their deceit and malice, people are also uninformed of their history, character, and platforms during election season. A lack of voter awareness can undermine the power of a vote. A lot of wrong people have been given great power without having the right sense of responsibility.

Despite what’s happened in previous elections, we still have the power to drive our country towards a better future. By knowing what a good leader should be like, we can achieve a better tomorrow. In this article, we’d like to share 5 ways that to help you determine what makes a good candidate this election season.

Know what values a candidate should embody

When you’re still unsure of who to vote for, think hard and analyze what kind of person would best represent everyone when they’re elected. This exercise helps you be aware of a candidate’s character and platforms during election season

Have a thorough understanding of the candidates

After having an idea of what kind of person you want in power, it’s important to know who the available candidates are—what their history is in politics, and the platforms they are planning to do. To have a proper understanding of our potential leaders, make sure to read information about them on the right sources such as reliable news outlets and not blog posts. The various news articles about them help you have a more informed opinion on these candidates.

Learn the candidates’ beliefs on certain issues

While conducting your research, look for information that showcases how the candidates approach the serious issues experienced in the country. You can do this by reviewing their accomplishments and the steps they’ve done to achieve them. The reason you’re doing this is these actions they’ve taken would be giving you a screenshot of what the country would be like under their rule.

See other people’s point-of-view

As much as you believe that the candidate you want to choose would be the perfect leader, it’s still important for you to learn about others’ point-of-view. This is to help you find any blindspots you’re not seeing in the person you’re voting for, and see if there’s another candidate that would be more deserving of your vote.

Educate the people

On the other hand, asking people about who they would be voting for and sparking discussion would help solidify or challenge your beliefs on the candidate you initially want to vote for. Some people often have uneducated reasons for why they’re voting for a certain person. Talking to them and giving your point of view can make them learn the potential error of their ways, and reevaluate the candidate they’re eyeing on.

With the 2022 elections just around the corner, it’s important early on to mentally prepare ourselves for our voting practices so our beloved country can have a better future to look forward to.
