ICYMI: Women Tops Excellent Bar Exam Passers List

May 4, 2022 0 comments

The Supreme Court of the Philippines released the official list of the excellent and exemplary 2022 Bar exam passers last April 12, 2022. And the Oathtaking Ceremony for Successful 2020/2021 Bar Candidates was live-streamed by The Supreme Court of the Philippines’ YouTube channel last May 2, 2022. And was led by Associate Justice Hon. Marvic M.V.F. Leonen.

One of the momentous celebrations of the event is that out of the fourteen excellent passers,  Associate Justice Leonen enthusiastically announced that four from the University of the Philippines - Diliman, which had the most excellent passers are all women. Namely - Julia Alexandra D. Chu, Camille Angela S. Cruz, Danica Mae M. Gordones, and Kristel Shayne M. Sigua.

“Your Honor, they are all women,” Associate Justice Hon. Marvic M.V.F. Leonen said with pride.

Truly a remarkable breakthrough for our lawyers to make a stand by showing that women will and can do IT.

Women have dominated being the topnotchers of their batch of exam takers. Last 2019, the top 5 of the 2019 Bar Exam were all women too. With Mae Dianne M. Azores from University of Santo Tomas - Legaspi leading with a percentage of 91.0490% surpassing 2018’s top 1 Sean James Borja from Ateneo de Manila University’s percentage of 89.306%.
