May 4, 2023 0 comments

This is one of the biggest dreams of many students, which is to go to college, get the education they deserve, and be the person they want to be in the future. We all have various reasons why we want to take a step forward in our education. These amazing students have just shown that they are capable of going beyond, crashing all the barriers as they reap their global opportunities.

Talking about hard work, intelligence, and amazing academic achievement? Sit back and give way because you are about to meet these Filipino exceptional students who have been successfully offered admissions and scholarships abroad!

Nathan Wayne F. Ariston

Last May 2021, Philippine Science High School (PSHS) posted on their Facebook page that Nathan Wayne F. Ariston of the Central Mindanao Campus was granted a full scholarship to help him pursue Physics by Yale University. Yale University is one among the best colleges in the United States. Ariston was immensely elated by the news. His father is a farmer while his mother is an elementary school teacher. Not only does he have the brains, but also has such a wonderful heart as he pledged to help the country and his community in Mindanao in the future. He said that the best way he can help is through offering his soon-to-be expertise that could be made possible by the grant. Science and Technology has been his greatest passion.

He was also very notable in contributing achievements to his school and to the country as well. Ariston won silver medal in the International Earth Science Olympiad that took place in Daegu, South Korea and bagged a bronze medal in the 2020 International Chemistry Olympiad in Istanbul, Turkey.

Ariston is the first graduate of PSHS-CMC to be accepted at Yale University. Not only that, Ariston was also offered admission in these schools: the Georgia Institute of Technology, Singapore's Nanyang Technological University, and University of California-Irvine. We could not ask for more!

Edrian Paul S. Liao

We also have Edrian Paul S. Liao. He is an amazing student who graduated from Pisay, Cagayan Valley Campus and also had an equal share of his achievements. He is a recipient of an offer by Duke University in the USA for BS Mechanical Engineering, Minor in Computer Science. Adding to that, he is also a recipient of the Karsh International Scholarship Program where he would be catered with full tuition, room and board, and mandatory fees. He is the first Filipino to receive such an offer. Talking about Pinoy Pride, right?

Liao said he did not expect to receive the educational grants for a "probinsyano" like him. He also envisions helping farmers in the Philippines by building microsatellites, to help minimize the negative factors and conditions affecting them. He also wishes to be an aerospace engineer, and to work in biggest companies such as NASA and SpaceX.

Liao was also offered a full scholarship grant by Jacobs University in Germany for BS Physics. Clearly, his vision is as high as his skyrocketing success!

Aryenne Ysabelle

Next on the list is Aryenne Ysabelle, an 18-year-old student who recently blew us away again as she got offered full-ride scholarships from top US Universities: Harvard, Princeton, and Amherst. Aryenne is quite thankful for these achievements since she already knew that her family could not afford to send her to college. She tried her best to help, and now that she already got all of these, she is very happy to give it to them as a “gift.” Aryenne’s father is a farmer too. She was also waitlisted in the following: Columbia University, Dartmouth College, Cornell University, the University of Pennsylvania, and Rice University. Go get it girl!

As a word of inspiration, she said, “I hope my experience and story inspire other students. Whatever your background is, embrace your ambitions and reach for the stars. You may face obstacles and challenges along the way, but don't let them discourage you. Remember that there is no limit to what you can achieve, as long as you believe in yourself and are willing to put in the effort. If you're a Filipino interested in studying abroad, feel free to contact me."

Gabrielle Balaba

Finally, we have Simone Gabrielle Balaba, a high school senior hailing from Cebu, Philippines. She was offered scholarships from nine colleges and universities in the United States: Augustana College, DePaul University, Fisher College, Hawaii Pacific University, Hollins University, Knox College, University of La Verne, Whitworth University, and Xavier University that is ranging from more than PHP 55 million ($1.1 million). Can we just give her a round of applause?

This is indeed a great success in her academic journey. However, even if she is lucky enough to have received such offers and other financial aids, she is aware that other matters including textbooks, room and board, and transportation will still need some support. With that, she is calling for sponsors to help her embark on her college journey abroad. Nothing but the best Gabrielle!

And the list goes on and on and on. Through the years, many students have been heading their way to success! See, this is quite a testament of wonderful possibilities that may also await us! Truly they stand as an inspiration and their stories of success and hard work will put a flame in the hearts of many who also had their own dreams and aspirations. For all students out there, remember that we can be like them, as long as we believe and try our best to become the person we want to be. We are all capable of achieving great things. Build your greatness, and be your own legacy!
