4 Pinoy Icons Who Would Crush It as Tourism Ambassadors

Apr 6, 2023 3 comments

Have you heard about Vanessa Hudgens being named the Philippine Global Tourism Ambassador? It's been a discussion online, with people having mixed views and opinions.

While some folks are excited about Vanessa taking on this role, others wonder if there might have been more suitable choices. After all, plenty of celebrities and personalities are passionate about the culture and tourist spots in the Philippines.

Some people have also pointed out that Vanessa worked on a travel documentary in the country with Paul Soriano, who happens to be the President's Presidential Advisor on Creative Communications. It's a curious coincidence, but we'll have to wait and see how things play out. Let’s be honest, people online may throw a major shade at someone, but they sometimes have the most honest of brutal opinions. And they are honestly surprised that Hudgens was really named the ambassador title.

After a *careful* consideration, because we listen to you guys *ahem*, this is, in no way, hate for the Coachella queen, but here are other celebrities/personalities whom we think can pass as the Philippine Global Tourism Ambassador.

Sandara Park

Sandara Park should have been awarded this role from day 1. We all know how the former member of the K-Pop phenomenon 2NE1 loves the Philippines. Not only did she started her career here, but even when she left the country, she went on to teach her former bandmates the Filipino language, travel around the country, and indulge in its delicious delicacies.

And get this: Sandara even speaks English with a bit of a Filipino accent, which shows how much she's immersed herself in the culture. She's even a fan of Filipino beers, which is a fun fact that you might not have known about her!

Even though she's not of Filipino descent, Sandara's love for the country is undeniable and makes her a worthy ambassador for Philippine tourism. So, the next time you see her performing her hit song "In or Out" or exploring the beautiful sights of the Philippines, just remember how much she truly loves this country.

Bella Poarch

TikTok sensation Bella Poarch is a proud Filipina! Even though she grew up in the United States after being adopted, she always makes sure to represent her Filipino roots in her videos. Her obsession with Joshua Garcia? Pinoy coded, tbh.

Her silly and adorable TikTok videos during the pandemic made her an instant hit and gained a massive following online. But more than anything else, now, as a popular social media personality, she has a massive following on her platform to showcase the beauty and culture of the Philippines to the world. AND SHE KNOWS SOME OF OUR STRUGGLES.

The struggle:

So, it isn't a bad idea to award Bella the Global Tourism Ambassador title, especially since she has a wealth of knowledge and appreciation for her home country. Her influence could inspire more people to visit and explore the wonders of the Philippines!

Mama Lulu and the Family of eedjiots

We all know them from the viral TikTok videos that give pure entertainment online. If there is one thing much more fascinating than their clever bits on TikTok, it is their Filipino pride injected with the right amount of humor.

They call themselves the family of eedjiots, derived from Mama Lu’s pronunciation of the word ‘idiot.’ She has done a lot of funny but very interesting things that show her love for Filipino foods. When it comes to that, she is always to the rescue! Moreover, during the election period in the Philippines, they never hesitated to use their platform to promote a just and fair election. Talk about real nationalism!

Bretman Rock

Undoubtedly, no one deserves the award more than a singer, songwriter, actor, actress, athlete, activist, scientist on the muthafu*ken side, the star of crystal of the day, a coconut connoisseur, mascara master, cereal critique, the newest MTV reality star, a commercial model and the newest botanist in town! The one and only Bretman is really that celebrity whom Filipinos love and look up to.

Bretman Rock rocks the game as he proudly represents his town in the Philippines. He is immensely vocal about his Filipino blood, even if he’s based in Hawaii. He never misses appreciating and showcasing his roots from attempting to sing the Bahay Kubo to cooking adobo with her mom in one of his videos. And…We all gasped when we learned that he speaks fluent Ilocano, right? Iconic. Presentation. Prediodt!

They better give him the ambassadorship now ‘cause he’s BUILT for that! And knows how to represent and does it well.

The list could take forever to end, but these people have the very best attributes of being Global Tourism Ambassadors. And besides, even without the title, they can be as proud as they want.

Who could also pass as the Philippine Global Tourism Ambassador?
