On Any Given Day, David Guison is That Guy

David Guison is that guy. The second he steps out, it’s a full-blown lookbook—flannel shirts, leather vests, varsity jackets, black boots—you name it, he’s worn it like it was made for him. If there’s a male counterpart to the It Girl, it’s hands-down David. He didn’t just follow trends—he set them. He had the vibe before the vibe even had a name. Give him a mirror, and he’ll serve angles, looks, and a specs-and-hairstyle combo that’ll make you do a double-take. While the rest were still catching up, David was already running the style game.

From his Tumblr and Lookbook days to launching DG Manila, and now dominating YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook, David has always had a flair for exploring new places and styles—both locally and globally. Whether he’s walking runways, styling shoots, thrifting gems, or just casually shopping, he’s got that instinct. Say less—David’s our go-to fashion hero, always ready with fresh outfit inspo to pull us out of any style slump.

No exaggeration but for the longest time, he owned Instagram like no other. Every fit check you see on the feed, and you see that it's David as a blueprint. Definitely, he is effortlessly cool, endlessly influential, and always three steps ahead. When it comes to fashion, David Guison isn’t just part of the conversation.

Breaking out of the two-dimensional world

David grew up surrounded by art, and with a deep passion for self-expression, it’s no surprise he’s spent over a decade creating content since his very first post online. What began as a casual project evolved into an everlasting quest. David’s wardrobe grew alongside his creative vision, where he used his content to inspire others to find their self-confidence in their style.

As one of the OG icons who used the internet to explore and share his style, David now looks back on how much social media has changed. He recalls a time when it was all about good vibes and aesthetic simplicity. He even dropped the cheat code for the perfect post: the essential watch shot and that full-body photo, oh yeah, don’t forget to put your hands in your pockets to give that effortlessly cool look.

A simple guidebook that can make anyone look cool, right? But David shares that while those posts made him go viral, they were quite two-dimensional and didn’t give him much room to express his true and kaleidoscopic self, “Magpo-post ako ng outfits sa Lookbook ko. Ayon ‘yung mga outfits na binabaon ko lang kasi hindi ako confident enough or comfortable enough to wear those types of clothes.”

David played around with trends, but he was craving more, so he took a bold leap and did something that might not be up everyone’s alley. “One time I posted an outfit na ‘commute friendly’ yung title. I just wore a plain white shirt, backpack, tapos jeans. Sabi ko, ‘I’m sure na hindi ito magwo-work,’ pero ayon yung pinaka-maraming ‘hype’ doon sa post na ‘yon.”

Let’s be real for a sec, if anyone could rock a plain shirt and still look good, it’s David. But there’s more to what pushed people to stop and stare—it was his versatility. From modern to vintage, monochrome to bold colors, minimalist to maximalist, and even something as simple as casual clothes, David knows exactly how to turn any condition into a fashion statement. He shares why it resonated, “I guess because it was relatable. And natuwa sila na hindi bakat yung pawis ko sa kili-kili. Kasi nagco-commute din sila, so parang na-appreciate nila ‘yon. So I guess iyon yung first memory ko na a post ko did really well.”

If we didn’t hear this from him directly, we’d easily assume David lives his best life every day just by glossing at his Instagram. But maybe we could take the time to know him better, and we’ll be surprised to know that, like you and me, as he said, “At the end of the day, lahat tayo, jumejebs. Lahat tayo tao lang…It’s not that serious. Chill lang tayo.”

That’s right, no matter how many layers you’ve got on, when it’s time to go, it’s time to go—off with those pants! But yep, at some part of the day, we just want to do our business peacefully

Finding his way as social media found its own

As social media giants like YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok burst onto the scene, so did David. These platforms gave him the space to express what he truly enjoys. David eventually decided to do something different, while sticking with fashion, he also shared how he spends his day and his leisure time. Something not everyone on the internet wanted to see. Of course, this also pushed him to explore and plan content that would hook viewers. And let’s be honest, with years in the social media industry and daily posts in that matter, it takes real commitment to stay passionate and rolling with the waves.

David shares his current content routine: “I just plan my content for the day. Usually, ang goal ko for my TikTok is to post 3–4 TikToks a day. So what I do is, I edit during the day and then pagdating ng mga free time ko—usually 6 PM to 9 PM—doon na lang ako naglalabas ng content ko.”

Content creation, just like any other job, takes a lot of time, energy, and creativity. Even after all these years, he never seems to run out of ideas or lose his edge. His secret? He says it’s all about staying true and hopping in the younger crowd. “I really want to learn from Gen Z, the young ones, the new influencers in the industry. So I guess keeping an open mind is also very important and not feeling superior.”

While the internet has its highs and lows, no matter the era, David chose to stay present. Time keeps moving, and so do styles, trends, and movements. While others might carry a superiority complex and barely acknowledge the youngbloods, David makes the effort to connect, sharing passions and building common ground where everyone can enjoy their similar interests, all while staying true to what makes them unique.

Any post could blow up once you post it. The highs are great, but the lows, like negative comments and bashing, are part of it. David doesn’t let it get to him, though. He’s all about building genuine bonds by listening, owning up when he needs to, and always staying open to learning something new. Of course, keeping that mindset takes work. He says he starts his mornings early with physical exercise (and nope, it’s not just for the abs) to get that “healthy body, healthy mind” mindset.

David is pretty active on almost everything, from vlogging, documenting his commute and travels to our favorite tambayan and galaan spots like Anonas and Cubao. He went deeper in the sheets of fashion and entertainment, but in a way that hears and sees us.

So now, we can really show our personality thanks to platform such as tiktok diba, doon ko talaga napakita na I enjoy content creation sa fashion pero feeling ko hindi ako yung type na creator na sasabihin ko ‘you should wear ganito ganito’, hindi siya informational, parang gusto ko lang ipakita outfit ko but I wanna show different facets of my life.”

So when David posts an OOTD, he says it’s not about being a role model or telling you what to wear. He’s just a guy sharing a good outfit (that’s all), whether it’s branded or thrifted, it doesn’t matter because it’s the creativity poured into creating a good outfit. At the end of the day, there are moments when he just lies down, strips off his clothes, plays games, and cracks jokes with friends, just like the rest of us.

David Guison isn’t just posting—he’s letting us in

“I don’t try to create content. I really just try to document. Even yung mga most, pinaka-boring na days like last week, nagpa-annual check-up ako, naghahanap kami ng mga venues for the wedding, ’yun talaga yung mga shinashare ko. And I feel like it really resonated with my followers kasi hindi naman parating masaya ang buhay, hindi naman siya parating exciting, wala naman kaming budget all the time para mag-travel.”

He’s so real for that. David doesn’t put his social life on a pedestal. He prefers to make his content creation more like an online diary where we’re invited to watch fragments of his ordinary days. He’s like that long-time friend we catch up with, randomly popping out as he tells us that attending an appointment, or we’ll just see him dressing up in women’s clothes at home, or relaxing at the beach with his fiancée. We never know exactly where David will be next, but we always feel his presence. And honestly, isn’t that what friends are?

Through these simple slices of life, we’re reminded that the faces we see on our screens are just as capable of sharing the same emotions and humdrum realities. David is as real as they come. During the shoot at Cornerstone, where he delivered this killer look at the café, he also ordered himself an iced coffee before the cameras rolled. See? He’s just like us when we’re hanging out at a cozy coffee shop.

Men can wear funky florals, too

While most men shy away from anything beyond basic fits, David confidently wears the quintessential Ha.Mu childlike, flowery, and modern pieces. The look he serves explores different textures, colors, and statements, which bring out creativity and charm. It’s not just what he wears, but also the statement it makes. If someone like David can rock those stylish clothes, why can’t anyone else? Maybe all we need is a little push and representation.

David stands out because he’s one of a kind, but also because he’s one of us. He finds common ground across different walks of life, talking and laughing along genuinely and creating content that isn’t just for a select few but for everyone.

Now, enough said, and look at our Fashion Hero on break—just David beside his coffee. This moment says it all: A good day doesn’t always have to be grand. Sometimes, it’s as simple as heading to your favorite coffee shop, ordering your go-to drink, and realizing how sweet life is with that first sip.
