May 20, 2021 0 comments

It's official, Olivia Rodrigo's debut album "SOUR" is now the newest teenage-heartbreak anthem— and we love it!

The new album has taken over the airwaves and already dominating the music charts. As a matter of fact, her debut single "Drivers License" now holds the Spotify record for most streams in a day for a non-holiday song— clearly, everyone else is loving this song just as much as we are.

But if you're wondering why we are only discovering, Oliva, just now, then you are not alone. In that case, buckle up, and let's get to know the "driver's license" singer.

She's a proud Filipino-American.

The 17-year-old actress and singer was born in the US and grew up in Marietta, California. However, her mother is American of Irish and German descent, while her father is Filipino-American. Olivia's dad grew up in a traditional Filipino household, and every year her family has classic dishes like lumpia. Yep! she's one of us.

She is a Disney Baby

Contrary to popular belief, Olivia did not come from nowhere. She's actually already been in the industry for quite some time. She was on Disney sitcom Bizaardvark from 2016-19 and starred in 2019's Disney+ show High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, in which she gained a pretty big fanbase on TikTok and Instagram.

Aside from starring in "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series," Oliva was also able to write multiple songs for the show — including its most popular original, "All I Want." The track went on to succeed on TikTok and was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America in April 2020. She also co-wrote "Just For A Moment" with Bassett for the soundtrack.

She is a spicy Pisces

Olivia Rodrigo is a late February baby. This makes her star sign Pisces. She even refers to herself as a "spicy Pisces" in her social media bios.

She is a certified Swiftie

Just like many of us, Olivia's favorite artist is Taylor Swift. Olivia often posts Taylor Swift covers on social media and totally fangirls over her. Following the release of 'Drivers License,' Taylor commended her success by commenting on one of Olivia's posts, "I say that's my baby and I'm proud" Taylor said.
