Instapoetry is a thing and you should follow these local poets ASAP

Brevity is the soul of wit, they say, and that can’t be any more true than with poetry. In just a handful of lines, poets are able to paint a picture, make you feel powerful emotions, and tell a story all in one go.

Some might find poetry rather old school, but like with everything else, poets have adapted to changing times. With social media anywhere and everywhere, it’s no surprise that many poets have used Instagram as their platform to share their work. Poetry these days aren’t just words; they’re images too.

Here’s a rundown just some of these talented local poets that you should follow on Instagram:

@br_castaneda

Mixing both original art and bite-sized poetry in an Instagram page that is both colorful and minimalist at the same time, B.R. Castaneda is someone you should follow if you’re into both. You can check out the Instagram page here

@emilchnn

One of the more colorful pages on this list, this poet uses images and colors to enhance the mood and tone of the poetry. For those who prefer reading Tagalog poetry, you can find them here too! Visit the page here.

Do you still remember when you had to write a haiku for school? Or even the last time you read one? If you happen to enjoy this Japanese poetry, you should click the follow button on this page right now. Click here to check it out.

 “I am a poem, an eternal anthem.” Those are the words that welcome you to Kaye Magnaye’s Instagram. Her poems, signed with the name Laura, are all minimalist in design, which you can take a look at right here

 @wisewordsofdong

This Instagram page hasn’t been around for long but there’s something about it that immediately catches your attention. A black and white photo with typeface acts as a cover photo for each poem, which you have to swipe left to see. Check it out here.

We hope that you support these talented poets and the many more creatives all-around social media! If you have a local poet you’d like to recommend to the community, sound off in the comments!
