If you believe in being apolitical, let these witty podcasts change your mind

Gone are the days when we had to convert YouTube videos to mp3 or when we had to head to our go-to computer shops to have music burned to CDs. These days, we’ve got Spotify, which lets us stream thousands of songs for free online and offline.

But these days, Spotify isn’t just about music. They’ve included new content on their platform, like podcasts!

If you’re looking for a new podcast to listen to or you want to give it a try for the first time, here are some local Spotify podcasts that you check out!

Ang Walang Kwentang Podcast

Despite its name, this podcast is anything but walang kwenta. Hosted by filmmaker Antoinette Jadaone and spoken word artist Juan Miguel Severo, Ang Walang Kwentang Podcast deals with a myriad of topics that are all relatable, such as pop culture, romance, and current events. Already 86 episodes strong as of writing, you can listen to the podcast here.

Gabi ng Bading

Hosted by AC Soriano and Yani Villarosa, Gabi ng Bading tackles topics and issues that concern the LGBT community mixed with a lot of pop culture references. Their first episode, for example, is titled “Bakla Bakla, Paano Ka Ginawa?”, a nod to the movie Bata, Bata… Pa’no Ka Ginawa? starring Vilma Santos. You can tune into the podcast by clicking here.

Lolo luvs u

From things that happen and are talked about during the first day of school down to the more sensitive and serious topics such as the ongoing pandemic and childhood trauma, Gab Campos talks about it all in his podcast, Lolo luvs u. There are currently five episodes available and you can check them out here.

Wake Up With Jim & Saab

Started in 2018, Wake Up With Jim & Saab is one of the first local podcasts to ever exist. 166 episodes in (and counting), the husband and wife tandem of Jim Bacarro and Saab Magalona discuss a wide range of topics with the most interesting set of guests. There’s an episode on Eraserheads with Ely Buendia, another on the covid pandemic with Dr. Tony Leachon, and one about the life and work of Vice President Leni Robredo. Listen to their podcast here.
