DILIMAN, Quezon City - UP Cinema’s official film magazine returns with its sixth issue, “
Kino Punch LAYA6, to be launched on October 9, 2021, at 6:00 PM via Facebook live.

After a five-year hiatus, the “Ang Muling Paglalayag” event will present Kino Punch’s comeback issue with the theme Evolution and Space featuring film articles, reviews, critiques, graphical artworks, and photographs by Cinemasters (the name for UP Cinema members) and outside contributors.

The program includes a panel discussion with film enthusiast Jason Friedlander, scientist and film critic Jason Tan Liwag, and Kino Punch 6’s managing editor and UP Film Institute undergraduate student Shaira Gertos, on Evolution and Space in Philippine cinema and beyond, alongside messages from contributors and a series of performances.

Diverging from its previous hardcopies, Kino Punch LAYA6 goes completely digital on Issuu. This move, adapting to the pandemic, aims to highlight both the accessibility and inclusivity of film appreciation, says Editor-in-Chief Elaissa Bautista.

Bautista is joined by Ivan Jon Gentolizo (Associate Editor), John Thomas Trinidad (Creative Director), Shaira Gertos and Andre Jacques Fallaria (Managing Editors), Ace Meelan Balbarez (Copy Editor), Ma. Sophia Sibal (Layout Editor), and Johnmark Villanueva (Marketing and Publicity Editor).

UP Cinema is an academic, social, and cultural organization based at the University of the Philippines College of Mass Communication that has continuously served as a venue for the open and free discussion of issues and ideas concerning cinema as a movement, art, and industry for eighteen years.
