This local clothing brand reimagines fashion through sustainable clothes

Feb 6, 2022 2 comments

While online shopping has become the natural solution to ease our quarantine fatigue, it's also hard to forget the industrial waste these fashion giants continue to mass-produce, which will likely have lasting effects on our environment. Well, If looks could kill, your clothes very much could, too, girl.

That said, let 2022 be the year that fashion accelerates its action on the climate crisis. And to help you start with your #SustainableFashion journey, let this local clothing brand known as Shekah & Keshah Clothing Co. help you!

A sustainable fashion: how do we get there?

This Manila-based clothing brand creates various sustainable clothes and accessories for kids, girls, and women without compromising the earth over style. "Our main goal is to make our customers feel the best that they can on our clothes!," Shekinah Joy Gentolizo, the brand's Managing Director shared. "We want them to feel comfy and to have that dainty, chic look."

Shekah & Keshah Clothing Co. started way back in 2019 as an additional income stream and supported her auntie, whose main passion is sewing. Due to the pandemic, they began by just selling neoprene care masks, then later expanded in selling some clothing. Now, the brand offers a variety of outerwear, sundresses, loungewear, chich blouses, and even masks made from premium cotton and linen fabrics.

The sustaibale future

For the untrained eyes, sustainable fashion has become synonymous with a boring design that's too expensive. However, with the brand's vision of sustainability and style, Shekah & Keshah Clothing Co. keeps on pushing its boundaries.

Aside from their #Sustanable fashion agenda, what makes Shekah & Keshah Clothing Co. different from other local brands is that they stay true to their contemporary nature by sourcing materials from other parts of the country, which helps local producers stay on their feet during the pandemic. Talk about quality and a purpose.

"We are supporting sustainable materials such as mailers and packaging, we also have partnerships with local manufacturers of sustainable materials," Gentolizo said. "Apart from supporting local, we also donate some percentage of our sales to help the needy."

Next month, Shekah & Keshah Clothing Co. will be dropping their Summer Collection, including dresses made from linen and soft cotton fabric. Visit Shekah & Keshah Clothing's official Facebook and Instagram for more info.
