Each year on February 25, the Philippines remembers the bittersweet stories of martial law and the triumph of the EDSA People Power Revolution.

The EDSA 1 promised freedom and democracy among Filipinos—freedom from the hands of a dictator and democracy to function as equal. But sadly today, the same promise and history are being challenged and forgotten by the same generation that the revolution has fought for.

With that, Cinema Centenario announced on Tueday that they will be having a free online screenings of documentaries to commemorate the 36th anniversary of EDSA People Power Revolution. The online event entitled,  “Dokyu Power Festival”  will screen thought-provoking documentaries from February 25 to April 9 on its online movie streaming platform MOOV.

.

The first documentary to be screened is Lauren Greenfield’s “The Kingmaker” which will be premiered on February 25 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

There will also be a live forum hosted by journalist Ces Drilon which will touch on “Martial Law, People Power, and what our history means to us in today’s fight for justice, democracy, and the truth.”

The public can register for this premiere through this link.
