Finally, we can watch Martial Law period movie 'Liway' on YouTube

We can finally watch Kip Oebanda’s Martial Law period movie ‘Liway' on YouTube. Oebanda wrote and directed the film based on his childhood with his mother, the anti-Marcos activist Cecilia Flores-Oebenda a.k.a. Commander Liway.

In a time when the stories of martial law victims were systematically erased among the younger generation, the film was uploaded on YouTube and is ad-free, so users have the ease to grasp the truths of the movie.

“I just really felt that our stories were systemically getting erased. I don’t know what’s going to happen in the Philippine society in the coming years but it felt like I had to do it now. It’s a now or never thing,” Kip explained during the press conference for Liway in 2018.

The film stars Glaiza de Castro as Liway, Dominic Roco as Dakip’s father Commander Toto, and Kenken Nuyad as Dakip, the child version of the film’s director.

Kip said that the film will be available for viewing ad-free until April. Liway first premiered at the 14th Cinemalaya Film Festival where it received a special jury commendation and won the audience choice award for full-length feature films.
