After 25 years in the entertainment scene, PULP is finally embarking on its journey to the screens! PULP Studio brings a whole new movie experience with “Maam Chief: Shakedown in Seoul,” starring our ever-witty ‘Kamsami’ and new-gen comedy sensation, Melai Cantiveros-Francisco.

Initially filmed in Seoul, this experience is a dream come true to its stellar cast who are real-life Hallyu fans. Ma'am Chief’s executive producer and PULP Live World COO, Happee Sy-Go, shared how proud she is of this Philippine-Korean film collaboration. “We have chosen the perfect cast for this movie.”

Joining the movie’s lineup are Alora Sasam (Yas Cordero), Jennica Garcia (Joy Salazar), Karylle Tatlonghari (Olga Tentativa), Pepe Herrera (Abraham Apostol), Bernadette Allyson-Estrada (Tita Gretch), Enzo Almario (Polly), Sela Guia (Jenny), Dustine Mayores (Prince) and Manel Sevidal (Ella Mae). And of course, completing the cast are Korean actors and actresses: Moon Kyung as Kim Bora, Gabriel Choi as Lee Donghan, plus special cameos from Do Ji Han and other oppas!

Movie of Many Firsts

This action-comedy film proves that there’s definitely a first time for everything. And when we say everything, we mean it literally!

During Ma’am Chief’s Media Fest on November 10, Happee surprised everyone with a revelation: she had never produced a movie before this project, and neither did her best friend Kring Kim, had a background in movie directing! Even their screenplay writer, Sofia Calayag, ventured into film for the very first time.

Meanwhile, after focusing on their individual endeavors, it’s definitely the comeback era on the big screen for actresses Karylle Tatlonghari and Jennica Garcia.

According to Showtime host and Encantadia actress Karylle, this project brought her out of her movie shell because of the action element of the film. “Sobrang dream come true for a lot of us—for all of us kasi what an opportunity. So kahit sumakit yung katawan ko, at nagpa-therapy ako for my scoliosis, go lang!” Karylle jested.

The Big Night

Celebrities and influencers attended the Premiere Night of Ma’am Chief on November 11, Saturday in Megamall Cinema 8. Among those who graced the red carpet are Darren Espanto, Ria Atayde, Ogie Diaz and Mama Loi, BGYO’s Nate and Mikki, Nyoy Volante, FumiYam tandem Fumiya Sankai and Yamyam Gucong. Of course, Mamshie Melai’s big night will not be complete without her cute and energetic girls Mela and Stela dressed up as their mom’s character, Selda Kaptan.

Ma’am Chief: Shakedown in Seoul

“Ma’am Chief: Shakedown in Seoul” features a fearless policewoman who went to South Korea for a covert mission. Melai as Selda Kaptan had to disguise as a tour guide with the help of her friend Yas Cordero portrayed by Alora Sasam to apprehend a fugitive. Throughout her journey in South Korea, she crosses paths with a diverse group of Filipinos, each adding a unique flavor of fun, action, and excitement to her mission.

If you have been having bad days and need an instant mood lift, Ma’am Chief: Shakedown in Seoul is the remedy for your blues.  It will be a delightful cinematic experience that will guarantee you with beaming smiles and heartwarming afterglow, so be sure to check it out on local theaters starting on November 15. Ma’am Chief is an awesome fusion of Pinoy wit and Korean blockbuster finesse. The charismatic performances of all the casts, including the charming Korean oppas, add an extra layer of joy to the movie.

Surely, Direk Kring and Inang Reyna Happee did not lie when they promised the movie would leave you laughing and ‘may puso’. True enough, the actors did justice to the characters they are portraying, though we would want to see more of them. Well, who knows, maybe in Ma’am Chief 2?
