These Pinay celebrities have spoken out in support of #FreePalestine

Nov 17, 2023 0 comments

Celebrities being vocal on their advocacies is a character arc that this world needs. While most people believe that meddling in politics or social issues is no good publicity for them, it’s empowering to see how some are doing their best to raise awareness and take part in certain causes.

Thankfully, there are celebrities out there who know what it’s like to be a real “influencer.” And when it comes to the #FreePalestine movement, these Filipino celebs speak volumes.

Liza Soberano

As Israel's aggression against Palestine continues, we can’t just sit here and do nothing. A watermelon seed-picking filter called “FILTER FOR GOOD” is taking over TikTok in hopes of raising funds for humanitarian relief in Gaza. Out of the 6 million content that featured it, Liza Soberano’s video has gone viral.  Our Hopie has once again proved that real beauty comes from what the heart speaks.

This trending filter is developed under TikTok’s Effect Creator Rewards Program. Although it already reached the 200,000 benchmarks to get monetized, hopefully, more and more people will continue using it to sustain Palestine’s recovery.

Anne Curtis

From raising millions of funds for women and children, advocating for quality education, and now unapologetically using her platform to raise awareness of Palestine's situation— Anne Curtis is definitely in tune to fight for human rights.

Anne has reshared Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie’s Instagram post detailing the bombing aftermath in Gaza. “This has to stop. These are children. Innocent children who have done absolutely nothing to deserve this,” as shared on one of her IG stories. This long-time UNICEF Ambassador genuinely has the heart and compassion, especially for the kids.

Janella Salvador

There really is something we could do if we just let ourselves take action. Actress-singer Janella Salvador shares on X how devastated she feels by the ongoing genocide that took the lives of kids and their loved ones. On her recent IG live, she has shown to be true to her intentions to help. “Kung may mga threads na need i-amplify, just let me know. I am still educating myself fully about it.”

Angel Guardian

Sparkle artist Angel Guardian speaks truth to power as seen in her consistent IG stories and posts. Although some people expressed a different view, this Filipina-Palestinian actress will never be sorry for standing up for what is right and just.

She even takes time to encourage netizens to learn more about the history and, more importantly, the crimes committed against Palestinians. “I’m also against the oppression and ethnic cleansing. Palestinians have been living in an open-air prison for 75 years. Try to watch “Born in Gaza” to gain understanding and see a glimpse of what they’ve been going through.”

Gazini Ganados

Nothing’s more heartbreaking than to see your loved ones be affected by the ongoing conflict. When thousands of bodies are burned to ashes every day, you can no longer use the lack of education as an excuse. This is what Miss Universe Philippines 2019 Gazini Ganados admitted on her IG as she finally broke her silence on the attacks.

She just recently kept in touch with her family who are currently residing in Gaza, and had no clue on whether they will make it out alive. At the end of her post, she challenged everyone to do the right thing: “How can so many be so silent? What are you scared of? Scared to defend basic human rights as innocent people are murdered.”

These people are making the most out of their million followers. So the next time you see a post about #FreePalestine, think about the impact it can make when you spare a second to share the word.
