This night is totally a celebration for OPM fans. With eargasmic featured artists to Eraserheads presence, here are the highlights of Method Adaptor’s album launching.
On Friday, Ely Buendia finally gave fans what they’re hoping for, at least aside from wishing for the comeback with his former band Eraserhead is his long-awaited second solo album “Method Adaptor”.
More than two decades after the release of his solo album “Wanted Bedspacer”, fans across generations gathered this November 8, 2024 to taste his second album live at 123 Block, Mandaluyong City. Accompanied by music performances, the album launch was packed with music entertainment from the invited Offshore Music artists who also came to congratulate Ely and promoted their incoming music to the fans.
Live Performances from Offshore Music Artists
As we all know, Offshore Music is an independent record label that was established by Ely Buendia in 2016. Ely Buendia really brought his family to this event to showcase not just his album but to also feature the rising musicians from his label.
The show was opened by Ligaya Escueta, a 16-year old artist of Offshore music who is known for her vintage-inspired takes on her songs that were heavily based on grunge, alternative, and punk. Her music “Novelty”, “She”, and “The End” were among the popular hits known by the young fans. Following her performance was the uplifting energy of the Aviators with their retro-pop melodies and engaging performance. The band also has their latest single entitled “Until Then” that was released last August this year.
Next on the list is the Carousel Casualties, an indie rock and pop band who are remembered for their songs “San Junipero", “Bakasyon”, and “Leona” also sent congratulations to Ely Buendia. On the other hand, arriving wearing Hawaian polos with wonderful vocal harmonies, the Pinkmen is also featured on the event. With their hit “Sardinas” that captured the energy of attendees, they were also the one who made the fans shout “roar” during the event.
Lastly, the band who arrived last at the event are the suit and tie musicians that were seen cheering for Pinkmen before their performance, is the ALYSON. They are known for bringing back the City Pop genre with their hits “Summer Nights”, “Kiliti”, and “Babalik”. Their joyful performance and trumpet solos made the fans dance in the event.

Ely Buendia’s Much Awaited Album and The Eraserhead’s Presence
And for the cream of the crop, here comes the long awaited performance of Ely Buendia featuring the songs of his new album “Method Adaptor”. His songs “Tagpi-tagping Piraso”, “Faithful Song”, and “Kontrabando” were among the songs that the fans enjoyed in our interview.
For the fans, this show was noted as if they were “given an oxygen tank” to be alive again. The nostalgia among admirers were also overflowing as the members of Eraserheads were also seen supporting their former frontman singing on stage.
Mico and Charme, both in their 30s, are one of the seen couples at the event. Being a fan of Ely since the 90s, they stated that this album release was long awaited due to the artist’s significance in their lives not just individually but as a couple.
“Malaking part na rin ng journey namin ng pagiging fan niya kasi simula noong huling labas niya ng album, inaabangan na rin namin siyang maglabas ulit kasi malaking part siya ng childhood namin” Mico explained.
Aside from the artist's relevance to their memories, Mico and Charm also revealed that Ely Buendia’s music was one of the reasons why they clicked and are now a couple. Mico also shared that the song “Faithful Song” is his favorite on the album for its deep connection.
“Halos lahat pero yung tumatak sa akin ay yung pinaka-unang song sa album. Tumatak siya sa akin kasi medyo may pagkakahalintulad siya sa buhay ko. Parang sa Mama niya sinulat ‘yon e, ako naman kasi para sa Lola ko.” Mico said.
Although the event is composed of solid fans like Mico and Charme reminiscing the nostalgia of Ely’s music, many young fans are also seen celebrating for this event.
Like John Ramirez, 25, who revealed that songs such as “Kontrabando”, “Tagpi-Tagping Piraso, and “Sige” are among his favorite on the new album, Ely’s “family-friendly” songwriting approach continues to transcend generations and still resonate with new fans.
Like the fans who grew up hearing Ely Buendia from the influence of his father, this second album is also much anticipated by the young fans. As fans regarded, Ely Buendia is considered a music icon whose songs continue to resonate across generations, including young listeners.
“Marunong magpa-miss si Ely eh.” John said.
Among the fans we interviewed from the younger generation to the fans who grew up listening to Ely Buendia’s music, they all agree that listening to his music is like listening to a “Kuya”. With Ely’s style of lyricism and uniqueness as an artist, this new released album is indeed exciting and worth the wait.
