Stef Aranas and Sassa Gurl Turn Up the Heat with QC GURLZ REMIX

QC is heating up—and we’re not just talking about the weather. Singer-songwriter Stef Aranas just turned the temperature all the way up with the drop of QC GURLZ REMIX, this time teaming up with Metroscene Mag cover star and LGBTQ+ icon Sassa Gurl for a version that’s louder, bolder, and hotter than ever.

First released in 2023, QC Gurlz was Stef’s unapologetic ode to chosen family and the vibrant spirit of queer living in Quezon City. Now, in time for Pride Month 2025, the remix version is bringing an entirely new flavor—with Sassa Gurl's signature sass, sex appeal, and lyrical genius.

Sassa Gurl Brings the Heat Higher

“If QC Gurlz focused on chosen family, having Sassa Gurl on the remix added a layer of sexuality and sass that is very QC,” Stef shares in an exclusive interview with Metroscene Mag.

Musically, the remix takes a bolder approach. Stef and her team reworked the beat with boom bap drums to give the song a fresh, punchier sound—and to make Sassa’s verse pop.

“Mas maangas tong remix na ’to,” Stef adds. “Lyrically, Sassa’s verse is about feeling hot for a cute boy during a night out. We also added boom bap drums, so her verse really stands out in a really powerful way.”

Even with the remix’s bolder sound and sassier energy, Stef hopes the heart of the song still hits home for everyone—no matter where they're from.

“I hope listeners are able to see themselves in this version as well,” Stef shares. “I’ve had several people say how much they relate to the original version, even if they weren’t from QC. I hope that by adding Sassa’s flavor, lalo pang lasapin at namnamin ng lahat ang QC Gurlz.”

Stef Aranas has since built a name in soulful, genre-blending R&B often teaming up with queer creatives like Euge, Kumare Harvey, and even released a remix version of her single "cunty" with M1ss Jade So. Sassa Gurl, on the other hand, went from viral TikTok queen to full-on music baddie with hits like Maria Hiwaga (2023) and Uma (2024), serving femme energy and queer power without holding back.
