Bretman Rock Proves He’s ‘Filipino AF’ While Wearing Traditional Bahag

If there’s one thing we know about Bretman Rock, it’s that he’s a man of many hats—literally. He’s a singer, songwriter, actor, athlete, activist, and a scientist on the side. He’s the star of "Crystal of the Day-ay-ay-ay," a fashion icon, and a fitness inspiration. But above all the that he is—most definitely—A FILIPINO.

In a recent viral video, the 27-year-old internet sensation took us back to his roots, sporting a traditional bahag (a native loincloth used by various indigenous groups in the Philippines) with the kind of confidence only Bretman can muster.

"Do you ever wake up and realize, damn, I'm Filipino as fuck? I could literally be in my bahag all day because I can. And who's gonna tell me I can't? Nobody. Yeah, like Filipino hair, Filipino skin," he shared.

The Baddest B*tch

This isn't the first time Bretman has donned the traditional attire. For his 25th birthday, he shared a stunning photoshoot wearing a bahag, proving that even as his fame reaches global heights, he remains grounded in his identity.

Born in Cagayan Valley before moving to Hawaii, Bretman has navigated the path from a small-town boy to an international superstar without losing his essence. Whether he’s cooking Filipino dishes for his niece Cleo or speaking Ilocano in his stories, the "Baddest B*tch" makes sure the world knows where he came from.

Uy, Pilipins!!!

Bretman’s connection to the Philippines goes deeper than fashion. Through out his career and even in his  his podcast, The Baddest Radio, he doesn't shy away from the hard conversations affecting the on politics, LGBTQ+ Rights and even Environmental advocacy

We’re calling it: It’s time to make Bretman Rock an official Tourism Ambassador for the Philippines.

Think about it—who else can sell the beauty of our islands, the richness of our culture, and the "baddest" hospitality of our people better than him? He embodies the modern Filipino: resilient, outspoken, hilarious, and unapologetically proud.

From the mountains of Cagayan to the shores of Hawaii, Bretman Rock continues to be a beacon of Pinoy Pride. He reminds us that no matter how far we go, we should never forget the motherland.
