The sun is shining a little brighter this Saturday, February 7, as a familiar face in our community shares a deeply personal and transformative update. In a move that defines courage and authenticity, the artist behind the iconic drag persona Marina Summers—known to many as Yan or Adrian out of drag — has officially reintroduced herself to the world.
Meet Marina.
In a heartfelt statement shared today, Marina opened up about her journey of self-discovery, revealing that she began her social transition in early 2025. For a long time, Marina admits she pushed her true self aside to chase other dreams, but last year she finally "stopped pausing."
For Marina, the transition wasn't just about a change in look. After beginning her social transition, she took the step to start Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) later in 2025.
"I would say it’s one of the best things that has ever happened to me," Marina shared.
While many followers noticed a shift in her presentation over the past year, Marina chose to keep the initial stages of her HRT journey private, surrounding herself with an "innermost circle" to heal and exist without the noise of the outside world.
Closing the Chapter on ‘Yan’
The transition marks the end of one chapter and the vibrant beginning of another. While she appreciates the love given to her past identity, she is firm about moving forward as the woman she was always meant to be.
"To everyone who knew me as Yan or Adrian, it’s been amazing. But that chapter of my life is happily closed," she wrote. "From hereon, I’d love for you all to get to know me more as the woman I’m becoming."
From ‘Heat Wave’ of Visibility
Marina’s announcement isn't just a personal win; it’s a moment of visibility for the trans community in the Philippines. By choosing to be "more honest" with herself and her followers, she’s stepping into a new era of transparency.
She admits she doesn't have everything figured out yet—and honestly, who does? But with "all the sunshine" in her heart, Marina is ready to navigate this new world with the kindness and respect of the community that has supported her since day one.
Readers will remember Marina as the scorching force on Metroscene Mag’s 2025 Heat Wave cover, where she cemented her status as a pioneer of Pinoy drag excellence. Looking back at that era, it’s clear that the "heat" was only the beginning.
Today, she isn't just a cover star; she is the face of a "New Wave" of trans visibility in the Philippines.
Hello again, Marina. We see you, we love you, and we can’t wait to see this new chapter unfold.
