Marina Summers Is Set to Host Miss Universe Philippines Coronation Night

Universe, it’s  summertime!

Marina Summers, the globally celebrated Filipina drag performer known for standout runs on Drag Race Philippines and RuPaul's Drag Race: UK vs. the World, is stepping into the spotlight. The queen has been tapped to host the upcoming Miss Universe Philippines coronation night, as announced on the pageant’s official social media channels.

From being the first drag queen to perform on the Miss Universe stage to becoming the first trans woman to host the pageant, Marina breaks another barrier and proves that she is THAT GIRL!

A Full-Circle Moment

Summers’ return to the Miss Universe Philippines stage feels like a full-circle moment. In 2024, she made waves as the first drag queen to perform at the pageant, delivering a show-stopping opening number to her single AMAFILIPINA. The performance wasn’t just a spectacle, it was a cultural shift, placing drag artistry front and center in one of the country’s most traditional platforms. Now, she’s not just opening the show, she’s leading it.

Joining her onstage is reigning queen Ahtisa Manalo, who will crown her successor, alongside P-pop powerhouse BGYO, set to energize the night with an opening performance.

The Era of Marina Summers

From finishing as a runner-up on Drag Race Philippines to taking on the global stage and now commanding one of the country’s biggest pageant nights, Marina Summers continues to define what it means to be a modern Filipina icon.

Earlier this year, Summers came out as a trans woman in a heartfelt Instagram post, sharing that she began her social transition in 2025 before starting hormone replacement therapy, marking a historic moment as she steps in as the first trans woman to host Miss Universe Philippines.

As if the moment couldn’t get any bigger, Marina is also celebrating her 7th year in drag, a milestone that reflects not just longevity, but evolution, impact, and pure star power. And much like our Metroscene cover story, she continues to turn up the heat, embodying a season of bold talent, transformation, and unapologetic brilliance.
