Filipinos are no strangers to fighting. Whether it's in the ring, on the court, or simply navigating everyday life, there's a certain resilience that comes with being Filipino. Now, that spirit is stepping into one of gaming's most iconic fighting franchises. Meet Yasmine, Street Fighter 6's first Filipina character and newest addition to its roster. Her arrival brings Filipino culture and representation to a game known for introducing fighters from all over the world.

With everything happening in the Philippines right now, seeing a Filipina character take her place on a global stage feels especially significant. Yasmine isn't just a new fighter—she's a long-overdue piece of Filipino representation in a franchise played by millions around the world.

Yasmine’s backstory stems from training alongside her Kuya under the guidance of their Lolo. Her personal quest in the land of Street Fighter is deeply connected with her mission to find her missing Kuya, that adds to Yasmine’s depth as a character and highlights her Filipino trait as a loving sibling and granddaughter.

A Character Styled In Culture And Strength 

Her in-game fighting style is deeply rooted in Eskrima, the national martial art of the Philippines, Yasmine also wields a karambit knife inspired by the Philippine Eagle, along with this weapon come her moves that are rooted in different Filipino symbols. 


Daloy ng Tubig – A quick forward-moving knife attack that’s good in combos.

Alon –If Alon connects, Yasmine goes into Bayani Mode and her knife will glow blue.

Talim ng Hangin – A forward spin, sweeping with her karambit.

Mukha ng Langit – A frontal flip with two follow up attacks inspired by the Philippine Eagle.

Lipad ng Agila – A highkick in the air in a flurry of hits. 

Pangil sa Likuran - A projectile move that swirls around like a boomerang.

Ulan - An upside-down spinning attack that hits backward.

Hiwa ng Kalangitan - Her Level 1 Super Art that uses Bayani mode, where she kicks an opponent in the air and slams them back down. 

Nakatagong Lakas - Her Level 2 Super Art that uses Bayani mode, where she focuses all her energy and boosts other abilities.

Pamumukadkad ng Sampaguita – Her Level 3 Super Art, where she spins an opponent and gathers the energy before pulverizing them in an all-out attack

Filipina Heroine On A Global Video Game

Yasmine is far more than just a new character update—she represents Filipino heritage and traditions that resonate with all Filipinos around the world. From her character design, inspired by the colors of the Philippine Flag, to her abilities, inspired by different Filipino symbols, Yasmine turns every fight into a celebration of Filipino culture.

Street Fighter’s new character Yasmine is, in every sense, a moment, a movement, and a muse of identity, strength, and resilience—and now part of Street Fighter history.

Yasmine’s character is set to be released on August 3, 2026, for now Street Fighter 6 Year 4 passes are available. Owners of the said passes will have Yasmine unlocked on August 3, 2026.
