They say the artists you listen to in your youth – adolescence, teens, or twenties - give a lasting impact because they tie down to specific moments in your life where you experience growth and reminisce fond moments.
That's exactly how I feel with 5 Seconds of Summer (or 5SOS for short), whom I spent a ton of time listening to my entire high school life. I met my closest friends and explored my love for live music too.
As of this morning, 5SOS's frontman and singer, 24-year-old Luke Hemmings announced his engagement to 30-year-old singer Sierra Deaton via Instagram.
"With shaking hands but a full heart I proposed to my best friend earlier this year." Hemmings captioned. "I love you Thao and I can't imagine my life without you ❤️ @sierradeaton"
Just when the happiness keeps bursting, Deaton also posted about the great news on Instagram.
"It was fun keeping this a secret for so long, but my heart is nearly bursting at the seams. can't wait for forever 🤍 @lukehemmings" The former member of the musical duo, Alex and Sierra, added. She is currently a solo artist under the name Essy.
No specific date of the event was stated, but even so, engagement news is always good news!
The couple has been together since early 2018 but making it exclusive and official since August that same year.
Fellow celebrity friends, such as bass player Calum Hood of 5SOS, musicians Max Schneider, and Ryan Tedder, sent their regards and congratulations in the comment sections of their posts.
Last year, Hemmings also surprised his Instagram followers by revealing that his soon-to-be-wife is bisexual. He announced the fantastic news (with Sierra's consent ofc!) along with a selfie of the couple as they celebrate Pride Month in Los Angeles.
As someone who used to be so keen on anything related to 5SOS (because come on, you chill down when you get older), it's refreshing to see someone who makes you happy find true happiness and love in someone without feeling toxic. If you know what I mean, let's just keep it to ourselves.
