Artists bare souls in Novice’s 5th Digital Issue themed on Chastity

Sep 2, 2021 0 comments

There is something uniquely intimate about every piece of art. And Novice, a locally-funded, crowd-sourced, print-on-demand publication dares to bare all with its uncensored fifth special issue themed on Chastity.

Almost 100 creatives come together with their craft, eager to shoot readers into various dimensions of human sexuality, inviting explorations on the truest, the sweetest, and the most deviant expressions of carnal desire.

From beastiality-themed line art by Ube Becaro, to scenes of tender love portrayed in the Japanese-inspired illustrations of Deej Amago, to the hyper-eroticism wrought by Isagani’s model, right up to the cold, lonely portrayals of nude portraiture depicted in Mike Alegado’s “Restless Water” series—The Chastity Issue features over 250 pages which capture everything from fleeting flights of passion to unbound intimacy, with humans portrayed as gods, demons—and everything in between.

This digital issue also features two candid interviews with erotic illustrator and visual artist, Ambivertgeek, and symbolist painter Ron Mariñas.

Headlined with a stunning mixed media art cover by Rum Corvera, Novice’s Creative and Managing Director, Allen Esteban describes Novice’s fifth issue as its most daring, and deepest commitment to local art, yet. “Chastity serves as a platform for examining our present understanding on gender performatives and spectrums,” he says, “helping bring to light surrounding challenges and controversies.” He further explains that the issue was conceptualized to show “the frustrations and sorrow wrought by our sexual odysseys are explored as personal reflections.”

You can read the special issue for FREE at noviceph.com/thechastityissue. You can also pre-order the limited edition physical copy of the issue on noviceph.carrd.co

As a passion-driven project, Novice promotes the spirit of creativity by strengthening the country’s artistic community—being a platform that celebrates young and aspiring creatives who showcase their talents as they make their marks in both local and international scenes. The fledgling publication aims to have 300 pre ordered copies locked-in by September 30, 2021, to proceed with printing. Support is greatly appreciated, and limited, full-color editions are available for Php800.

Read the issue and pre-order your copy now and be inspired by the meaning of chastity as defined by Novice— young, local artists remaining sacred, pure, and true to art’s purpose—baring fully the truest expressions of the human soul.
