These OPM hits are turning 10 years old and now we feel old

Sep 2, 2021 0 comments

OPM, as years and decades go by, will always produce new talents, new songs, and even new memories attached to these new songs. But sometimes, it’s nice to look back at tunes from yesterday.

2011 feels like it’s both just yesterday and a lifetime ago, but one thing is for certain: it was a good year for OPM. Here are the OPM hits of 2011 that will turn 10 years old this year:

Ako Na Lang - Zia Quizon

Zia Quizon, the daughter of the late actor Dolphy and singer Zsa Zsa Padilla, made her debut in the OPM scene with this song a decade ago.

Hey Daydreamer - Somedaydream

Many OPM fans consider this song the top song of 2011 and if you happen to be a fan of the dance/electronic genre, this is one song you should listen to if you haven’t just yet.

Siguro - Yeng Constantino

Yeng Constantino released this OPM song a decade ago as part of her Lapit album. It was initially released in 2009 but the music video was released in 2011. Well, admit it or not but this song launched thousand of daydreams back in high school.

Porque - Maldita

Looking for a non-Tagalog or non-English OPM track to listen to? Then you should totally check out Maldita’s Porque. This Chavacano song was eventually uploaded on YouTube in 2019, according to CNN.

Walang Natira - Gloc 9

Ten years later and this track by the amazing Glock9 still gives me goosebumps. “Walang Natira” off his 5th studio album, Talumpati and was released under Sony Music Philippines. The song talks about the brain drain that is happening in the country.

Classmate - Hambog Ng Sagpro
If you listen to Hambog Ng Sagpro in Highschool, you are definetly a BHAD bitch now! This list wouldn’t be complete without the song that became the theme song of every high school barkada— Classmate by Hambog Ng Sagpro. It just takes you back to simpler times.

Lagi - Kiss Jane

One thing we can agree all agree is that 2011 is full of cheesy love songs and Lagi by Kiss Jane is one of those. Takes you back to that time when your only problem is your high school crush.

Buko - Jireh Lim

Last but not the least, Buko by Jireh Lim. We can all agree that this track was the song of the year and the national anthem of that year! The list wouldn’t be complete without this track. I would trade everything just to go back to 2011, when things were simpler, and share earphones while blasting this song.
