The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP)'s DZMC-Young Communicator's Guild (YCG) presents its 9th edition of PUP Radio Conference 2022 happening on March 25, via Zoom and Facebook Live.

With the theme "REVAMP: The Media Blueprint in Reclaiming the Republic," the PUP Radio Conference 2022 will discuss the importance of media and information literacy as the country prepares for the most significant election in the middle of the pandemic.

"It is crucial for us to think critically before believing what we see firsthand as internet users, students, and, more broadly, as people,” said Project Head Lian Astrid Manalo on the importance of the advocacy underlying the theme of this year's conference.

Aside from the current advocacy, Co-Project Head Edward Jayson Comeo cites doing the conference for the second time during the pandemic and having the 2022 elections as factors, makes PUP Radio Conference more significant than ever.

"We are becoming more practical in our hope of imparting new knowledge to our participants since our prepared topics are very timely and relevant in exercising our democratic rights and, at the same time, we embrace maximizing the use of radio and other related media platforms for this cause," he said.

The conference will highlight the following:

  • Fact-checking in the 2022 elections
  • Digital Media: Game Changer in the Philippine Elections
  • The Role of Radio in Disseminating Info During Elections
  • Radio Coverage in the Philippine Elections

Furthermore, the conference will help equip participants with advanced skills in media and information literacy by featuring notable professional media practitioners from across the country.

Alongside the conference is the second year of the PUP Radio Festival, a competition dedicated to showcasing students' talents, skills, and creativity in radio production.

The competition welcomes entries from high school and college students across the country and comprises three categories: 5-minute Radio News Production, Radio Podcasting, and Radio Jingle Making. Exceptional entries will be granted Best Output and Special Recognition awards on March 27.

PUP Radio Conference 2022 is co-presented by Adonia & Co., The Crafters Marketplace, Cozy Zola, Baked Manila, Clochet.PH, Magnifique Papeterie, Motivo Philippines, Nextile PH, Silvanas Las Pinas, Bioré Philippines, Caronia Philippines, Jergens Philippines, and BRTC Philippines. This event is also in partnership with Polarix, and its official media partner Metroscene Mag.
