Philippine Ballet Theatre Brings the Myth of Maria Makiling to Life This July



Legend says there was a diwata named Maria who wanders on a mountain, protecting its flora and fauna with all her heart by calming storms and blessing bounty to the land. Watch her story come alive in a ballet performance on July 5, 2025, at 3:00 PM and 7:30 PM, and again on July 6, 2025, at 3:00 PM at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, Samsung Performing Arts Theater, Makati City. 

The Cultural Center of the Philippines and Philippine Ballet Theatre present a storybook come to life. Discover the myth behind the name of Mt. Makiling that reveals the Filipino spirit of grace, love, admiration for nature, and deeply rooted values, all told through the art of ballet.


This full-length ballet features original choreography by Artistic Director Ronilo Jaynario, with an original composition by music and video producer Paulo Zarate.

Tickets are now available on TicketWorld through their website. Prices range depending on the preferred seating: Orchestra Center seats are priced at PHP 2,500; Orchestra Side seats are PHP 2,000. The Loge section is available at PHP 1,500. For more economical options, Balcony 1 is priced at PHP 500, and Balcony 2 tickets are only PHP 350.
