Last year, Bar Boys: A New Musical made its highly anticipated debut and quickly became a standout hit in the local theater scene. With two sold-out runs in May and October, the production drew over 9,000 audience members, many of whom left singing the songs, moved by the story, and seeing themselves reflected in its characters.
This original Filipino musical resonated deeply with people. More than just a law school story, it became a heartfelt celebration of dreams, ambition, and enduring friendship — told in a way that felt honest, timely, and unmistakably Filipino.
2024 offered the shapers of the musical space to explore and take bold, creative risks. Now, building on its powerful story and music, the production is able to dream bigger as it steps onto a larger stage — not as a rerun, but as an all-new staging, as Bar Boys: The Musical.
Bar Boys: The Musical follows the journey of four friends — Erik, Chris, Torran, and Josh — who hope to become lawyers and change the world. But as the realities of school and life set in, their friendship, values, and faith are put to the test.
THE MUSICAL’S CAST AND TEAM
Benedix Ramos, Alex Diaz, Jerom Canlas, and Omar Uddin will all be returning as the Bar Boys: Erik, Chris, Torran, and Josh. Sheila Francisco will also be reprising her role as Justice Hernandez. The rest of the cast will be announced in the coming weeks.
Bar Boys: The Musical is created by Pat Valera (book and lyrics) and Myke Salomon (music and lyrics), and is based on the film by Kip Oebanda.
Mikko Angeles, who co-directed the musical in 2024, now leads as Director. Returning creatives include Myke Salomon as Musical Director, Jomelle Era as Choreographer, Ohm David as Stage Designer, Meliton Roxas Jr. and Jethro Nibaten as Lighting Designers, Joyce Garcia as Video Designer, Julio Garcia as Property Designer, and D Cortezano as Technical Director.
The creative team also welcomes new members: Yvonne Russell as Assistant Director, Aron Roca as Sound Designer, and Hershee Tantiado as Costume Designer.
Bar Boys: The Musical opens in October 2025 for a limited engagement at the Hyundai Hall, Areté in Quezon City.
