The Iconic Barkada Reunites on Stage in “Bagets The Musical”

Few Filipino films have become a pop culture staple as Bagets. Released in 1984, the coming-of-age classic followed Adie, Arnel, Tonton, Topee, and Gilbert played by William Martinez, Herbert Bautista, Aga Muhlach, JC Bonnin, and Raymond Lauchengco and quickly became a defining snapshot of youth, friendship, and growing up. Decades later, its impact still hits.

Now, Bagets gets a stage revival as Bagets The Musical prepares to open at the Newport Performing Arts Theater.

Kicking off the run are performances featuring Andres Muhlach as Adie, Ethan David as Arnel, Milo Cruz as Tonton, Jeff Moses as Topee, and Tomas Rodriguez as Gilbert. This lineup takes the stage on January 23 at 8 PM, January 25 at 3 PM, and January 31 at both 3 PM and 8 PM.
Sharing the spotlight is a second ensemble that reimagines the barkada with its own rhythm and chemistry. Mico Chua steps into Adie, alongside KD Estrada as Arnel, Migo Valid as Tonton, Sam Shoaf as Topee, and Noel Comia Jr. as Gilbert. Catch them on January 24 at 3 PM and 8 PM, January 30 at 8 PM, and February 1 at 3 PM.
The production’s gala night on January 29 at 8 PM promises a standout performance with Muhlach, Estrada, Cruz, Moses, and Rodriguez sharing the stage.
A collaboration between Newport World Resorts, The Philippine STAR, and VIVA Communications, and staged by PETA Plus, Bagets The Musical runs from January 23 to March 2026. The show is presented in cooperation with Sun Life Philippines.
Tickets are now available through the Newport World Resorts website and TicketWorld and Ticket2Me outlets, with prices starting at PHP 1,000 and going up to PHP 4,000.
Decades later, Bagets still asks the same question—who were you then, and who are you now?
