These local artists are reviving snail mail one artsy postcard at a time

May 3, 2021 0 comments

When was the last time you’ve written a letter, as in with pen and paper, and mailed it via the post office or any other courier service? We won’t be surprised if there are those out there who have never done it, especially since mobile phones and emailing have been around for a while now.

But even with technology around, there’s something really heartfelt, old school, and back-to-basics about writing letters and even sending a pretty postcard to a loved one. Lucky for anyone who wants to give snail mail a try, local artists continue to create picture-perfect postcards that you can send to anyone! Here’s where you can shop for some online:

Cynthia Bauzon-Arre

Cynthia Bauzon-Arre is an artist who advocates for the importance of Philippine flora and fauna in forest conservation and heritage preservation. This advocacy shines through with her postcards that feature local flowers and forest fruits. If those aren’t your thing, she also has postcards with designs inspired by native birds and even local food!

To view her designs and buy a postcard or two (or more!), visit her official websiteFacebook, or Instagram.

Geek Ventures Art

Postcards from decades back often feature tourist spots from all around the world. If you’re after that same feel, this Instagram store offers postcards featuring Asian architecture such as Bukchon Hanok Village in South Korea and our very own Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar in Bataan! To order, check out the online store on Instagram

  In Medias Res PH

In Latin, in medias res means “in the midst of” and this actually has a lot to do with how this online shop started: right in the middle of the crazy pandemic. In Medias Res PH aims to bridge this gap we’re all experiencing due to the quarantine with handwritten notes and postcards. They currently have a Lineart series and another inspired by Pantone colors.

You can order your postcards by messaging their Shopee or Instagram
