Filipino rapper-producer based in Australia, DR3MT revisits the Netflix and Chill culture this love month with "&CHILL,"—his new single via local Filipino collective DUPLIK8.
According to DR3MT, "&CHILL" is about that euphoric sensation of being in the zone with your special someone. The sweet nothings as simple as having Netflix and Chill. “Yung kanta kasi, it is all about “the vibe” when you are with your special someone,” DR3MT reflects. “The feeling of you two just vibing with the mood in a cozy place under mood lights, having snacks while watching Netflix,” he said.
The new track is DR3MT’s follow-up to his discography that features vibey and chill tracks such as “Tropahan” (our personal favorite BTW) and “Fling.”
As a young and upcoming artist, DR3MT puts his story into his artistry. “Para sakin when you write a song you have to put yourself into it,” he shared. “Everything dapat ilaan mo sa craft na ginagawa mo. kailangan naiimagine mo na ikaw yung andun mismo sa place, sa mga nangyayare.”
"&CHILL" was a track idea that has been shelved for a long time, according to DR3MT. According to the 23-year-old singer-songwriter, the track felt incomplete the first time the idea of it came through, but now it feels correct and ready to be everyone’s chill track.
“We made the beat way back 2020 pero parehas kame ng producer ko si Dup na di pa mafeel na buo na yung kanta,” he said. “There’s something missing and naisipan namin siya ituloy ulet this year and maayos naman kinalabasan madami nadagdag kumpara sa unang gawa namin and I think, kung ako mamimili, susunod na to sa tropahan with a different vibe.”
